![]() While exploring, pick up home point crystals and survival guides wherever you can. That said, even if you do die in the process, the game nowadays makes it so painless to get back to where you were that it hardly matters anymore.Ībsolutely do take advantage of all the quality of life features while you do this, though. I say easy prey and decent challenge because those checks become less and less accurate for solo as you level up, to the point where even an easy prey mob could KO you. You won't level up nearly as quickly that way, and you'll still probably want your trusts when seriously grinding levels, but it's a good thing to do every now and then to get to know what you can do with your chosen job. Try taking on some "easy prey" and even "decent challenge" mobs solo, without trusts, just for the fun of it and to get a better handle on combat. Even though the game does so much to speed up your progression towards "endgame," it's worth it to explore the world, do story missions and even optional sidequests, meet people (when possible) and immerse yourself in all the game and its nearly 20(!) years of history have to offer. This isn't something I necessarily wish I knew when I started because progression was way slower back then, but honestly my thoughts for a new player nowadays are as follows: Use the sparks you gain from RoE objectives to buy Acheron Shields from the NPC and sell them to an NPC vendor to solve your early money problems.ĭo the gobbiebag quests to increase inventory space. The story will confuse you, but they come with reduced teleport fees (down to 100/200 Gil) and a drastic increase in the EXP and skill ups you gain. Do the quest for them in Upper Jeuno once you get there.ĭo the Rhapsodies missions as far as you can as early as you can. Lastly, there are Chocobos (personal ones you can call whenever and for rent ones in the cities and several other places) and Mounts you can call whenever that have a higher speed than the chocobos. Other modes of transportation are boats and airships. There are rings available that can teleport you to certain locations, as well. You can teleport to the crags of Dem (Konschtat Highlands), Holla (La Theine Plateau) and Mea (Tahrongi Canyon), as well as the Vahzl and Yhoat crystals in Xarcabard and Yhoator Jungle with the respective White Mage teleport spells. You can warp to Wanted encounter areas, even if you have not been there before. These use Unity accolades as a currency, which you can earn by completing Unity RoE objectives. The fees for using both of those options decrease drastically with progress in the Rhapsodies of Vana’diel missions. There is one in many zones, usually at the entrance. You can teleport to a survival guide you have activated before. You can also warp to them if you set them as your homepoint (=reset point after death). There are several in the cities, and some zones have one or more as well, usually before battle arenas. You can teleport to home points (the crystals) once you have activated them. ![]() There are a couple ways of transportation:
